  I would like to commend a young woman named Elsie who works at the Los Alamos Smiths. I was in the store for the very first time this morning to get a frozen turkey breast and paused at the self checkout line unsure as to how to proceed. Elsie noticed the confused expression on my face as I turned to walk away and find a tellered check out stand. She came over to me and asked if I needed help doing a self checkout. She then led me to the machine and guided me through the entire process. She made sure I was comfortable with the assistance and did not feel like a complete fool. Senior citizens in particular truly appreciate this kind of consideration and assistance! I commend this young lady for her consideration and thoughtfulness and want her to know it was much appreciated :)

  This Smith's was opened a few years ago and replaced the smaller one (located across the street). They have a huge assortment of goods, starting with fresh and organic vegetables and fruits, a diverse food court, cheese and meat counter, a bar, all groceries you need for your daily life and additionally electronics, clothing, pet food and supplies, household section, pharmacy (also drive through), seasonal discount area... This Smith's is gorgeous! You won't miss anything here.

  I shop here out of necessity, but I am not impressed. This is a good example of why a monopoly is terrible for a town of our size. I shop the Co-op when I can afford it, but I am rooting for a Trader Joe's, Sprouts or a small independent grocery store to move in and give us a better place to shop. Bigger is not always better.
